Heart Failure Increasing

DOKUZUZ Eylül University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Thoracic Cardiovascular Surgery Faculty Member Prof. Dr. Öztekin Oto warned about heart failure.

Prof. Oto stated that heart failure will increase exponentially in the world and in Turkey.
Stating that heart failure is an increasing problem especially as the population ages and that they expect an explosion in 2020, Prof. Öztekin Oto said, "There will be an increase over the age of 70-75. Cardiologists also have a great role in preventing the increase in heart failure. Timely medication will be given, up-to-date treatment will be applied. There is an increase at the moment, and there is also a shortage of donors. Heart failure is especially caused by coronary artery disease and arteriosclerosis. That is, spontaneous deterioration of the heart muscle. Quick fatigue, shortness of breath, swelling in the leg, excessive palpitations in the heart may be the beginning of heart failure. Those in this situation should definitely consult a doctor."

ECCP prolongs the time until the heart is found

Prof. Öztekin Oto stated that there is an ECCP device that comes to the rescue of patients waiting for heart transplantation and said, "The device we call EECP is very effective in heart failure, it can prolong the waiting time in heart transplantation. EECP is applied to the patient suffering from heart failure for 1 hour every day for 35 days. It supports blood circulation from bottom to top at the time of heart enlargement, and unloads the loaded heart. The waiting period for heart transplantation is prolonged."

Smoking addiction restricts your life

KONAK Municipality Health Affairs Directorate and Atatürk Training and Research Hospital Cancer Early Diagnosis and Training Centre (KETEM) collaborated to inform the staff about 'Harm of Smoking and Cancer'.
KETEM doctor Demet Şimşek stated that smoking causes great harm not only to the smoker but also to the environment and said, "It causes cancer types such as kidney, liver, lung, lung, stomach, large intestine and breast cancer, paralysis, infertility, shortness of breath, hormonal disorder, skin wrinkles in women, premature menopause." Stating that non-smokers suffer more damage as passive smokers next to smokers, Şimşek continued his words as follows:
"A child who stays in a smoking environment is affected as much as if he/she smoked 5 cigarettes a day and lung disease occurs. The risk of asthma and bronchitis doubles and complaints of abdominal pain increases 3 times. The effect of smoking is seen in 30 per cent of all cancer types."
